Who are the Democrats?
The Democratic Party is the oldest political party in the United States and among the oldest political parties in the world. It traces its roots to 1792, when followers of Thomas Jefferson adopted the name Republican to emphasize their anti-monarchical views.
Democratic View
Most democrats are completely against animal testing. Presidents such as Bill Clinton have personally expressed their hatred for it. Congressman Pete Stark made a statement that said he believed “animals should be treated humanely” back in 1992.
Democrats on Animal Testing
- In 1992, Congressman Ron Dellums called for a halt to all animal experimentation in the military.
- Presidential candidate Jerry Brown said, "The millions of animals used in scientific experiments should be replaced by other methods."
- Former President Obama has been a champion of animal-friendly legislation and policy.
- He has repeatedly voted to increase penalties for animal cruelty and violence, and to require psychological counseling for those who engage in this behavior.

- ban the slaughter of horses and wild burros
- increase penalties for animal fighting
- prohibit dog fighting and penalize spectators for engaging in dog fighting.
- Democrats believe that animal rights are a legitimate moral concern
- "because we are all connected stewards over this planet and all life on this planet. Our cruelty to animals and our willingness to ignore this cruelty says a great deal about ourselves."

- If this act would be passed into a bill, there would be not animal testing for any form of commercial Cosmetic brands in the United States.
- A gallup poll from 2016 shows that on average
- 53% of democrats view animal testing as morally acceptable
- 55% of Democrats find it morally acceptable to wear or buy fur clothing
- 28% of Democrats find it morally acceptable to clone animals
